Incident Updates
Additional evacuation changes have been declared by Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office to allow residents back into their homes. Utility crews are still in the area working to restore service as quickly and safely as possible. This work is on going and some properties may continue to be without power after returning to their property.

Overnight, minimal humidity recovery was observed by firefighters. However, crews continue to make good progress with line construction. Extensive hot spot mop-up remains across the fire area. Dry fuels and fire behavior continue to challenge firefighters. The risk of spot fires remains under the right conditions.
Gann Fire is now 26% contained.
Firefighters continued suppression efforts on the Gann Fire today focusing on the firing operation and strengthening control lines. Active fire behavior remained a challenge in critically dry fuels. Hot, dry conditions are expected to persist through the coming days, with temperatures above 100 degrees. Containment continues to increase despite challenging conditions.
Fire cause has been changed to equipment use.
The Gann Fire is now 10,372 acres and 19% contained.

Zone CCU-110 has been split. CCU-110-A remains in Evacuation Order status. CCU-110-B has been reduced to an Evacuation Warning.
The Gann Fire is now 9,363 acres and 10% contained.
Last night a firing operation began that will continue on today. This is a firefighting tactic used to remove unburned fuels to help contain the fire. It is expected to complete today, and additional smoke may be visible during this time.
Governor Newsom has secured a Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG) from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to help suppress the Gann Fire in Calaveras County. To learn more please visit Gov.ca.
Direct line construction will be the focus of today's efforts. A slight decrease in temperatures and increase in humidity are expected today. The incident will transition command to CAL FIRE IMT 6 this morning.
The Gann Fire is 7,052 acres.
Fire activity has decreased this evening. Night flying helicopters will be supporting firefighters throughout the night. A firing operation took place this afternoon on the western edge of the fire.
The Calaveras County Fairgrounds is accepting livestock evacuations for animals affected by the Gann Fire.
Reminder: If you are attempting to evacuate animals in an evacuation order area or beyond a road closure point, you must provide the approved and current Ranch Pass credentials at the checkpoint. The Calaveras County Ranch Pass Program allows property owners/ranchers and authorized representatives (AR) to access their land during critical incidents such as wildfires to care for cattle, horses, and other livestock that depend on timely access to food, water, and safety. The fire is now at 6,495 acres.
CAL FIRE Incident Management Team 6 has been assigned to the Gann Fire in Calaveras County to support the CAL FIRE Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit and ongoing suppression efforts.
Firefighters are faced with hot temperatures and steep terrain. The fire is currently burning Northeast of Copperopolis and West of Pool Station Road. Fuel, topography and light winds are contributing to the fire's spread.

CAL FIRE is now in Unified Command with the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office, ensuring a coordinated response as firefighters continue suppression efforts. This video shows firefighting resources making their way to the fireline, where crews from multiple agencies are working together to protect lives, property, and surrounding communities.
The fire has expanded to 3000 acres and the firefight continues. Air resources have arrived over the fire to assist ground firefighters and additional aircraft has been requested.
Conditions are changing quickly. Please ensure you are ready to evacuate if needed and are signed up for emergency alerts.
Firefighters worked tirelessly overnight attacking the fire from the ground and air. Although the fire has grown to 2,100 acres evacuation orders were unchanged overnight. There's still a moderate rate of spread and 0% containment however, additional resources are still responding to the area for dayshift.
The fire is now 1,800 acres with a significant amount of resources en route to assist in the firefight.
Night flying helicopters will continue supporting firefighters throughout the night, working alongside ground crews to slow the fire's spread and strengthen containment. Cooler temperatures and higher humidities make water drops more effective, allowing aircraft and firefighters to take full advantage of favorable conditions as suppression efforts continue overnight.
An additional two helicopters with night flying capability are working the fire. A significant augmentation of resources has been requested. Central Valley Incident Management Team has been requested to assist.
The Gann Fire is now at 310 acres, and evacuation orders have been issued.
Fire is moving at a moderate to dangerous rate of spread. One reported dozer rollover, personnel is being evaluated.
The fire is now 250 acres. Firefighters continue to aggressively attack the fire from both the ground and the air. Coordinated efforts between ground crews and firefighting aircraft are helping slow the fire's spread while strengthening containment. Additional resources are continuing to arrive to support the ongoing suppression efforts and reinforce firefighters already working on the incident.
The Gann Fire is now at 100 acres.
The fire is approximately 40 to 50 acres, with hoselays going up both flanks.
The fire is burning at a dangerous rate of spread through grass and brush, with rapid uphill fire behavior. Additional firefighting resources have been ordered and are responding to support suppression efforts.

Resource Connection Food Bank Calaveras County Residents with photo ID and proof of residency that need assistance can visit the food bank during normal operations on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9-4pm (closed for lunch 12-1230.) or call (209) 754-1257.
Red Cross can assist residents who have homes that were damaged or destroyed if it meets their criteria. Proof of residency, photo ID, and proof of damage can be submitted at the Red Cross Shelter to get the process started. Residents have up to 14 days to contact Red Cross for help after the shelters close with a few exceptions.
