Current Situation

Situation Summary

Firefighters continue to mop up and extinguish hot spots within the perimeter of the fire. The repopulation of residents is ongoing, with zones being released in phases to ensure safety of public and utility agencies. Numerous calls for service continue to be received from communities that are repopulating. The Infrastructure Group is being utilized to assist Public Works with the clearing of roadways and opening of storm drains. Southern California Gas reported that service has been restored to 3,040 structures. Southern California Edison reported that service has been restored to 11,862 structures, with 7,549 remaining. Fire Suppression Repair is nearing completion. Resources continue to be staged in La Cañada along the western flank of the fire, ready to respond to any new fire starts or fire activity within the current footprint.

The Particularly Dangerous Situation (PDS) Red Flag Warning expires today at 10 a.m.. Northeast winds will gradually decrease through the morning and conditions will remain critically dry with extremely low relative humidity.

Forest Closures

The entire Angeles National Forest is temporarily closed for public safety and the protection of natural resources from January 8, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. through Wednesday, January 24, 2025, at 12:00 midnight. During this time, the following acts are prohibited within the Angeles National Forest and San Gabriel
Mountains National Monument:
1. Going into or being upon the Angeles National Forest. 36 C.F.R. § 261.52(e).
2. Being on any National Forest System Road within the Angeles National Forest. 36 C.F.R. §261.54(e).
3. Being on any National Forest System Trail within the Angeles National Forest. 36 C.F.R. § 261.55(a)

Damage inspection teams have completed inspections for 99% of all structures within the fire footprint. Damage inspections are ongoing. 

Evacuation Orders

  • For the zones below an EVACUATION ORDER remains in place, and is closed to the general public. It is only open to individuals with valid proof of residence (driver’s license, registration, utility bills, etc.). Peace officers and National Guard will still be at check points and will ask for identification. Please have it ready to expedite the process.
    • The zones listed below are only open to residence with valid ID:
    • ALD-FARNSWORTH, ALD-LAUREL, ALD-CHANEY, ALD-RUBIO, ALD-CANON, ALD-GARDEN, ALD-WAPELLO, ALD-MOUNTLOWE, ALD-PALM
  • Entry and Exit Points are located at the following intersections:
    • Altadena Drive and North Fair Oaks Avenue
    • West Altadena Drive and Lincoln Avenue
    • East Altadena Drive and North Lake Avenue
    • West Loma Alta Drive and North Sunset Ridge Road

Per the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department: ALL EVACUATION ORDER and WARNING AREAS for the Eaton Fire are under CURFEW ORDER from 6PM till 6AM.

    Before law enforcement officials can re-open evacuation zones, it’s crucial to ensure that hazards are mitigated in the fire area.  Even in evacuation zones where homes may not have been damaged, many cooperators are working to mitigate hazards like fallen power lines, burned out guard rails, and clearing significant wind damaged trees and other debris. Wait for official clearance before heading back and follow officials’ safety precautions once allowed in.

    Residents seeking re-entry will be required to provide proof of residency when approaching roadblocks. Acceptable forms of identification include a government-issued photo ID that clearly displays the resident's name, photo, and physical address. These measures are in place to facilitate a safe and organized re-entry process.
