Incident Update Line Fire

Situation Summary

There were cloudy skies, fog and trace amounts of rain over the Line Fire area Sunday night into Monday. Strong, southwesterly winds gusting to 25mph on the ridges and upper slopes fueled active fire behavior where heat still exists. The fire is still smoldering and creeping in dry vegetation. Firefighters are continuing building and strengthening control lines and mopping up hot spots.

Damage Inspection Teams (DINS) are working in the fire area. So far, they have identified four structures that were damaged and one that was destroyed. Their inspections include residences, multi-family dwellings, outbuildings, and commercial buildings.

Governor Gavin Newsom has announced that the California National Guard will support the state’s ongoing response to the Line Fire.
Through its activation, authorized under the Line Fire state of emergency, the California National Guard has deployed:

• Four UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters for water bucket dropping operations
• Two C-130 aircraft with Modular Airborne Fire Fighting Systems (MAFFS)
• Four 20-person hand crews (80 soldiers). 
• One military police company to support the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department with traffic control points in evacuated areas.

• Cedar Glen, Lake Arrowhead, and Valley of Enchantment 
• The area of Big Bear Valley from the dam east to Cactus Road
• Erwin Lake, Sugar Loaf, Big Bear City, Big Bear Lake, and Fawnskin
• Green Valley Lake north from Highway 18 along Green Valley Lake Road

• San Bernardino issued Forest Order NO. 05-12-00-24-09, creating a Forest Closure Area around the Line Fire. All National Forest lands, trails, and roads are closed to the public within that zone including San Gorgonio Wilderness
• All undeveloped land east of Highway 330 to Summertrail Place and north of Highland Avenue
