Current Situation
Situation Summary
INITIAL SITUATION: Forest Service Firefighters, along with firefighters from other agencies, including the City of Highland and San Bernardino County, responded to a reported wildland fire on Baseline Road at about 6:00 PM on September 5, 2024. Arriving engines reported several acres on fire and immediately requested more resources, including multiple additional fixed wing and helicopters.
Update 10/6/24: Crews around the contained portions of the fire continue to patrol and monitor for smoke as well as perform suppression repair. The fire remains in almost the same footprint, and smoke has not been seen in many sections. On the east side crews continue to work on strengthening handlines and suppression repair. Dry weather and higher than normal temperatures continue until Monday, and a fuels advisory is still in effect. Due to decreasing fire activity, the night flying helicopter was released after shift last night.
San Bernardino County Fire left Unified Command last night.
The closure orders for the San Bernardino National Forest remain in place.
