PENCIL FIRE UPDATE 8:30 PM 7/22
The Pencil Fire is an estimated 500 acres, with 90% of the perimeter secured by dozer and retardant lines. All air resources involved in the fire suppression efforts have been released for the night. Fire crews will continue working overnight to build fire lines around the perimeter and to secure existing lines. This will be the final update for the evening. Multiple engines, crews, overhead personnel, and fire suppression aircraft are on the scene. Firefighters are actively working to contain the 200-acre Pencil fire, with ongoing suppression efforts through the night. Smoke will be visible from the highway.
