Current Situation
Situation Summary
This evening's objective is to continue to strengthen containment and control lines, as well as support suppression repair efforts where safe to do so. Firefighters on the line will continue to remain hydrated and ready in the event the fire activity increases. Record hot and dry weather conditions and rugged topography throughout the fire area are challenging for suppression efforts. Windy conditions are of high concern for fireline personnel and their life safety.
Weather Update: Dangerously hot and dry conditions were observed across the incident today. Afternoon temperatures peaked in the 110 to 116-degree range. Afternoon relative humidity dropped into the 10-20% range. Weak northeasterly winds in the morning shifted to a southwesterly direction by afternoon with gusts of 10 to 15 MPH. An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect.
For tonight, warm conditions are expected with low temperatures near 80 degrees. Overnight humidity recovery will be moderate in the 30-50% range. Weak northeasterly winds can be expected tonight and Sunday morning. For Sunday, hot and dry conditions will continue although high temperatures will be a couple of degrees cooler. However, the heat will still be at very dangerous levels and the EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING will remain in effect.
