Current Situation

Situation Summary

Firefighters have made significant progress building and reinforcing containment lines around the perimeter of the Post Fire outside of Gorman. Crews continued conducting suppression repair throughout the fire footprint. An Excessive Heat Warning was in effect today, with temperatures reaching nearly 100 degrees. Partly cloudy skies developed with some isolated light showers.

Approximately 645 personnel continue working on the incident. Water tenders, helicopters and fire engines continue to manage hot spots within the fire, while patrols are focused on heat and smoke around the perimeter. As containment percentages have increased, crews have shifted their focus to suppression repair to return the watersheds and recreation areas to pre-fire conditions.

An Evacuation Warning issued for areas south of Pyramid Lake, west of Interstate 5, east of Los Angeles County line, and just north of Templin Highway has been LIFTED (Zone CAS-GOLDENSTATE-A).

An Evacuation Order has been converted to an Evacuation Warning for areas south of Gorman Post Road, west of Interstate 5, east of the Los Angeles County line, and north of Pyramid Lake (Zone GOR-HUNGRYVALLEY).

Pyramid Lake, parts of Los Padres National Forest northwest of Pyramid Lake, and the Hungry Valley State Vehicular Recreation Area remain closed to the public at this time.

Access may be limited in some areas due to work by emergency personnel. Follow all posted information and instructions by local officials.
