Current Situation

Situation Summary

Firefighters continue making progress on the Post fire outside Gorman, CA. While the footprint of the fire has remained static, crews focused on interior terrain to mitigate any isolated smoke or heat sources. Due to increased temperatures expected in the next several days, these areas are a priority.

Throughout the fire, crews continue to expand control lines working around infrastructures and natural resources. Firefighters continue working around Pyramid Lake Dam to protect critical infrastructures. Other assets threatened include State and Federal recreation sites, communication sites, United States Forest Service fire stations, oil pipelines, private camps and residences along Interstate 5 and multiple waterways in the area.

Access to areas of steep terrain and brush continue to be made by shuttle boat and helicopter. Using these dynamic techniques has helped maintain and expand control lines in rough and steep terrain.

Weather conditions today were favorable with warm and dry winds gusting up to 20 miles per hour in the afternoon. Winds are expected to weaken tonight with cooler temperatures. As we approach the weekend, temperatures will climb into the 90’s with relative humidity expected to fall into the teens or possibly single digits.
