Current Situation
Situation Summary
Firefighters arrived at scene to a 3-acre grass fire burning at a dangerous rate of spread in tall grass. The Incident Commander(IC) quickly ordered additional engines and began a direct attack on the fire. The IC prepositioned engines on the west side of the RXR tracks to contain a spot fire of approximately 4 acres. With the help of a bulldozer, helicopter and additional engines, the crews were able to stop the forward spread of the fire to 65.7 acres. Fire Engines will remain at scene throughout the night extinguishing hot spots and patrolling the fire line. Three travel trailers and six vehicles were destroyed in the fire. No injuries were reported, and the cause is under investigation.
