Incident Update Line Fire

Situation Summary

Clear skies and seasonable temperatures prevailed across the Line Fire area today. The fire was active in the higher elevations with slope and fuel-driven runs. Tonight, cool temperatures and light and variable winds are expected. Fire growth will continue to be moderated by cooler weather.  Firefighters are strengthening control lines and mopping up hot spots. 

Damage Inspection Teams (DINS) are working in the fire area. So far, they have identified three structures that were damaged and one that was destroyed. Their inspections include residences, multi-family dwellings, outbuildings, and commercial buildings.

Governor Gavin Newsom has announced that the California National Guard will support the state’s ongoing response to the Line Fire.
Through its activation, authorized under the Line Fire state of emergency, the California National Guard has deployed:

• Four UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters for water bucket dropping operations
• Two C-130 aircraft with Modular Airborne Fire Fighting Systems (MAFFS)
• Four 20-person hand crews (80 soldiers). They will be assigned to the Line Fire on Thursday in support of CAL FIRE.
• One military police company to support the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department with traffic control points in evacuated areas.

Evacuation Warnings

• Cedar Glen, Lake Arrowhead, Twin Peaks, and Valley of Enchantment 
• The area of Big Bear Valley from the dam east to Cactus Road
• Erwin Lake, Sugar Loaf, Big Bear City, Big Bear Lake, and Fawnskin

Evacuation Orders

• Forest Falls and Mountain Home Village (Only residents allowed to return at this time. Be prepared to show proof of residency)
• Green Valley Lake north from Highway 18 along Green Valley Lake Road
• San Bernardino issued Forest Order NO. 05-12-00-24-09, creating a Forest Closure Area around the Line Fire. All National Forest lands, trails, and roads are closed to the public within that zone including San Gorgonio Wilderness
• All undeveloped land east of Highway 330 to Summertrail Place and north of Highland Avenue
• Running Springs and Arrowbear Lake 
• Angelus Oaks, Seven Oaks and all campgrounds and cabins in the area

Road Closures

• Highway 38 between Bryant Street and Valley of the Falls Drive will be open to residents of Mountain Home Village and Forest Falls only
• Highway 38 past Valley of the Falls Drive will remain closed in both directions
• Highway 18 is closed from Kuffel Canyon to the Big Bear Dam
• Highway 330 is closed northbound from Highland Avenue to Highway 18
